I took my first yoga class in 2008 and was instantly hooked. The tuning within, flow of movement as well as the philosophy really resonated with me. I completed my Yoga Teacher Training and continue to study all aspects of Yoga at Ananda Kutir Ashram in Cape Town. I have combined my love for nature with my love for yoga and teach Outdoor Yoga Classes all over Cape Town. Outdoor Yoga combines the health advantages of exercise with the freshness of nature. Studies reported by The New York Times have shown that muscle tension decreases, and levels of the stress hormone cortisol diminish after adults perform the same activities in garden-like environments, as opposed to indoors.

Children are natural Yogis, they are still young enough to remember their divine nature so I never feel I ‘teach’ children. When it comes to yoga and children all one needs to do is nurture and guide what is already so freely accessible within them. They are in touch with themselves, children are fearless, children own their emotions, children are not afraid to fail or be silly, all things we seem to forget as adults.
Teaching children’s yoga has also helped me to connect with the child in me. I love the playfulness, joyfulness, fearlessness and blossoming self-confidence I get to witness through teaching children’s yoga.
